Sometimes we come to a place in our lives where we need another person to listen to us deeply and consistently. The process of having our deepest feelings and thoughts understood and accepted leads to self-acceptance and self-love which is the ground for creating change in our lives, in ourselves, and in our relationships to others.
Psychotherapy is about personal growth, healing negative self-concepts, and finding your authentic self. I approach each patient by trying to determine what is unique about you as a result of a life story that is like no other. I place paramount value in our counseling sessions on your internal world–fantasies, dreams, fears, hopes, impulses, wishes, self-images, perceptions of others, and psychological reactions to symptoms.
I specialize in prenatal and postpartum mental health, including pregnancy, postpartum depression and other postpartum reactions such as stress and anxiety, infertility, pregnancy loss, pregnancy termination, parenting, and couple adjustment to parenting.
Other areas of expertise include counseling individuals, couples, and adolescents who want to work on their personal or work relationships; struggle with depression, anxiety, childhood trauma and abuse, grief from loss; or are interested in personal or spiritual growth.DonaTempleman.jpg
